Site settings

Features

Turn site capabilities such as search and the API reference on or off for your published docs

What the Features page controls

The Features page in site settings turns capabilities of your published docs site on or off. Each toggle changes what readers can use on the site, for example search across your pages or the API reference pages generated from your project. The page stores its values in the site configuration, so the same options are also visible in Advanced JSON.

Changes apply to the branch you are working on. Readers see them after you publish that branch. See Branches, Previews, Publishing, and Restore for the publishing steps.

Feature reference

FeatureWhat it does for readers
SearchReaders search across the pages of the site. Results highlight the matching terms.
API referencePages generated from your API evidence appear on the site, with request and response details and a "Try it" playground.

The page also lists other site capabilities. Read each label and its description on the page before you publish, because a toggle affects every reader of the site.

Change a feature

1

Open the Features page

Open your project in the dashboard, go to site settings, and select Features.

2

Turn the feature on or off

Change the toggle for the capability you want. Leave the others as they are.

3

Preview and publish

Build a preview of the branch to check the site. Then publish the branch so the live site uses the new setting.

API playground requests

The "Try it" playground on an API reference page sends requests only to the API base URL set in your site settings. The base URL shown in request samples does not decide where a reader's request goes. See API playground proxy for how requests are sent.

Note:

Requests from the playground use the base URL you set. Point it only at an API you are allowed to call from your docs, and never place real API keys or tokens in your pages.
