Domains

MCP tools for listing, adding, checking, and removing custom domains on a project

Domains

Four MCP tools let a connected agent manage the custom domains of a project. An agent can list the domains attached to a project, add a new one, check its status, and remove it. Use them when you want an agent to manage a domain for your docs site without opening the dashboard.

Custom domains work the same way whether you attach them in the dashboard or through an agent. For background on how a domain is hosted and verified, see Custom Domains.

Tools

ToolWhat it doesScope required
list_domainsLists the domains attached to a project.projects:read
add_domainAttaches a custom domain to a project.domains:write
check_domainChecks the status of a domain on a project.domains:write
remove_domainRemoves a custom domain from a project.domains:write

The domains:write scope implies projects:read, so a grant with domains:write can also read projects and domains. For what each scope allows, see MCP Scopes and Approval Requests.

Before you start

  1. Connect your agent to the Doxa MCP server. See Connect an AI Agent with MCP.

  2. On the consent page, grant domains:write to the agent and select the project that contains the domain. You can review or revoke the grant later under Settings, Connected agents.

Note:

If the agent's grant does not include domains:write, the add, check, and remove tools are not allowed. Grant the scope on the consent page, or revoke the grant and connect again with the scope selected.

Example requests

You ask the agent in plain language, and the agent picks the matching tool. For example:

text
List the custom domains for my docs project.
text
Add docs.example.com to my docs project, then check its status.
text
Remove the old domain docs-old.example.com from my docs project.

For the first request, the agent calls list_domains. For the second, it calls add_domain and then check_domain. For the third, it calls remove_domain. Ask the agent to check a domain again if you want to confirm its status before you share the address with readers.

Team projects

Access to team projects follows your role in the team. If your role on a team project is viewer, the agent can read domains, but add, check, and remove requests return "not found". Make the change with an account that has access to the project, or use a project you own.
