Site settings
Appearance
Set the theme, colors, logo, and layout for your published docs site
Overview
The Appearance page controls how your published docs site looks to readers. Use it to choose a theme, set colors, add a logo, and adjust layout options. These settings apply to the whole site, so you do not configure them page by page.
Open the Appearance page
Sign in to the dashboard and select your project.
In the sidebar, open Site settings.
Select Appearance.
Appearance is one of the site settings pages, along with Navigation, Domains, SEO and sharing, Features, and Advanced JSON. These pages share the same site settings state, so changes you make on one page are kept when you move to another.
Fields and what they control
| Area | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Theme | The base look of the site. Doxa provides built-in theme presets, and the theme you choose sets the default appearance. |
| Colors | The color values the theme uses across the site. |
| Logo | The logo that identifies your site. |
| Layout | Visual layout options, such as the sidebar position and where section tabs appear. |
The available values for each field appear in the dashboard. Choose a value and check the result in the content editor before you publish.
How changes reach readers
Appearance changes are saved to the branch you are working on. They do not affect the live site until you publish that branch.
Make your changes on the Appearance page.
Open a page in the content editor. In Write and Split modes, the page is drawn with your branch's current theme and colors, so you can check how content looks.
Build a preview and review the branch diff. See Branches, Previews, Publishing, and Restore.
Publish the branch.
Open
<slug>.doxa.page, or your custom domain, and confirm the new look.
Publishing updates the live site:
Readers see the new appearance only after the branch is published. To undo a published change, restore a previous publication from publication history.
Edit the full configuration
The Appearance fields cover the common visual settings. To edit every site option in one place, use Advanced JSON. That page validates your changes against the published JSON Schema before you save them.
