Custom Domains
How your project is hosted at its slug and how to attach a custom domain from the dashboard
How your project is hosted
Each project is hosted at its slug on the doxa.page domain, in the form <slug>.doxa.page. After you generate and publish the site, open that address to read the published docs.
You can also attach a custom domain, such as docs.example.com, to the same project. A custom domain serves the docs that are published for the project. When you publish a new version, check both the slug address and any custom domain to confirm the update.
Before you start
A project with a generated and published site. See Branches, Previews, Publishing, and Restore for publishing.
Access to the DNS settings for the domain or subdomain you want to use.
Permission to change site settings for the project.
Attach a custom domain from the dashboard
Open the domain settings
Open your project in the dashboard and go to the site settings. Find the domain settings there. The settings pages are described in Advanced JSON and the other site settings references.
Add the domain
Enter the domain you want to use, such as docs.example.com.
Create the DNS records shown in the dashboard
The dashboard shows the DNS records to create for the domain. Create them at your DNS provider, and copy the values exactly as displayed. Do not rely on example values from other sources, because the required values come from the dashboard.
Verify the domain
After DNS changes take effect, run the domain check in the dashboard. DNS propagation can take time, so a check that fails right after you add a record does not mean the setup is wrong. Run the check again later.
Note:
Attaching a domain does not publish content. If the domain serves no docs yet, publish the branch that contains your pages first.
Confirm the domain serves your docs
Open the custom domain in a browser and check that:
the page loads over HTTPS;
the title, navigation, and content match the version you published;
a page you changed recently shows your latest edits.
If the domain shows older content, publish the branch again and reload the page. You can compare the same page at <slug>.doxa.page. Both addresses should show the published version.
Manage domains with a connected agent
A connected agent can list, add, check, and remove domains through the Doxa MCP server:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
list_domains | Lists the domains attached to a project. |
add_domain | Attaches a custom domain to a project. |
check_domain | Checks the verification status of a domain. |
remove_domain | Removes a custom domain from a project. |
Review the scopes granted to your agent in MCP Scopes and Approval Requests before you allow domain changes. The full tool reference is on the Domains page.
